Security is always something that we are in a big concern here at GOZEN HOST so having a valid SSL for every server we consider a huge must.
cPanel even though they charge a lot for their licenses …they don’t provide an SSL for your DNS only cPanel Servers.
However, installing one is quite easy (and auto-renew itself) with just a few lines from SSH.
First you need to meet the prerequisites, which in any case you already do if you managed to install cPanel DNS Only on your server/vps.
Make sure one more step though since usually a firewall is in place of your DNS Only installation and Letencrypt needs access to verify your FQDN.
So No 1 is -> Ensure port 80/tcp is open on any firewall for SSL validation.
Now connect to your cPanel DNS Only server and fire the following commands.
That’s it…soon your cPanel DNS Only server will get his own valid SSL by Letsencrypt.
What if after a while you don’t have a valid SSL?
There are a few steps you can try (even though usually the SSL will be installed in a few minutes.)
If you need to manually renew for some reason, you can use the following:
/usr/local/bin/fleetssl-dnsonly
If something isn’t right and you need to reinstall your SSL
/usr/local/bin/fleetssl-dnsonly -reinstall
